What PeppolCheck.fr is

PeppolCheck.fr is a free, public verification directory for the Peppol e-invoicing network. Given a Peppol identifier, a VAT number, a SIREN, or a company name, the service returns the participant's Peppol Directory record and the SMP access point that will receive their invoices and credit notes.

It exists because the official OpenPeppol SML and SMP, while authoritative, are not built for ad-hoc lookups by humans or AI agents. PeppolCheck.fr stitches the SML, SMP, and Peppol Directory together into a single fast surface — both a web UI and a JSON API.

Who runs it

PeppolCheck.fr is operated as a public-good side project by e-invoice.be, a Belgian Peppol Access Point operator. The maintainer is Willem De Groef; technical contact willem@e-invoice.be.

The site infrastructure runs on Cloudflare Workers in the EU. No customer data is stored: there is no user account system, no signup, and no credentials to keep secret. The only data persisted is anonymous, aggregated traffic measured through a privacy-friendly PostHog deployment hosted in the EU.

What it covers

  • France, Belgium, and the rest of the EU/EEA are first-class.

What it is not

  • It is not a Peppol Access Point. PeppolCheck.fr cannot send or receive e-invoices — it only reads metadata.
  • It is not an authoritative registry. For legally binding lookups, confirm against the OpenPeppol SML.
  • It is not a paid product. There is no enterprise tier, no API key, and no contact-sales funnel.
